Progress doesn't come from doing everything perfectly - it comes from continuing. February can be a month where motivation comes and goes, but progress in music isn't about being perfect or feeling inspired every day. It's built through consistency, patience, and the willingness to keep showing up. Even small moments of practice help maintain momentum and move musicians forward. 

Keep celebrating the little wins - one measure learned, one smoother transition, one brave attempt at something new.Over time, those small steps turn into real growth. Stay steady, trust the process and let the music unfold.

​Student of the Month: February 2026
Zoe Tellagorry-Barton

​​How long have you taken lessons & what Instruments do you play:
I have been taking piano lessons for 6 years, and have been with Gabby for 3 years. I play both the piano and cello.

Favorite musical genre or artist:
I like pop music, and classical music a lot, especially Bruno Mars, but I like listening to all types of musical genres. 

What is the coolest thing you've learned in lessons recently:
I recently started learning how to do trills; while tricky, it is very fun to attempt to do it every time!

What are your other hobbies, besides music:
I love to read, write, draw, and do taekwondo. 

One fun fact about you:
I have family in Uruguay (a country in South America), and I am bilingual, speaking both English and Spanish.

What do you like most about your teacher:
I love how kind, and caring she is. Gabby is so supportive of me, and her other students’ growth. 

What achievement are you most proud of in your musical journey:
This might not count as an answer, but the achievement I am most proud of in my musical journey is the journey. I started by playing notes on the piano by clicking at them with my pointer finger, while the music teacher tells we what notes to play to now playing whole songs with difficult techniques while an audience watches. I think that is impressive.

Emily Lofaro got 1st Chair All County for Percussion, Briley Barber made Made All County for Percussion, Adrian Dominguez got a 55/60 on his OCMEA audition & Mia Chen got 1st Chair violin for The Stringendo!
